Upgrade to OPC Router 5

note

We recommend that you first perform each update of OPC Router on a test system and test the corresponding project there.

Depending on the installed OPC Router version, different steps are required for the update to OPC Router 5. Here are the steps for different scenarios:

Update from OPC Router 5.4

In addition to the steps listed below, we recommend an intermediate step to version 5.1, 5.2, or 5.3 when updating from OPC Router 4 to OPC Router 5 (from version 5.4) due to the changed data storage in YAML files.

Update from OPC Router 4.25

From OPC Router version 4.25, export your complete OPC Router project and deactivate the OPC Router service. Now install OPC Router 5 and import your project. It is not necessary to uninstall OPC Router 4.

Update to OPC Router 4.18

For OPC Router versions older than 4.18, you must first update to version 4.18. To do this, uninstall the old version and install the latest maintenance version of version 4.18.

In OPC Router version 4.18, switch your entire OPC Router project to productive mode via OPC Router Management before uninstalling this version. Then install version 4.28 and perform the project migration using the automatic process in OPC Router Management 4.28.

Update from OPC Router 3

For OPC Router versions older than OPC Router 4.0, read the OPC Router 4 manual to find out how to update to OPC Router 4.18 and then perform the update from OPC Router 4.18 to OPC Router 5.

note

With your OPC Router 4 license and a valid maintenance contract, you can license OPC Router 5. If you want to continue using OPC Router 4, you will need an additional license.
