Distributed mail servers

The mail server will not usually be installed locally. Access will generally be the same as for any other email program. This applies to mail servers installed in the company network as well as to external servers, e.g., those installed by your Internet service provider. Your network administrator will provide you with the access data.

We generally recommend that you note the following:

  • The mail server must support SMTP authentication or NT authentication as the login procedure.
  • Does your network administrator have to explicitly approve access to an external mail server?
