User account for service

Changing user settings for Windows services.

If inray software is to communicate with external systems on other computers, the executing component, usually a Windows service, must log on to this computer or external system. We recommend creating a Windows user who is logged on to your Windows domain (NT authentication) – especially if distributed OPC servers are involved (access via DCOM, see below). This user should have administrator rights on the computer running the inray software in order to be able to use the configuration environment without any problems.

  1. Open the Services management via "Control Panel – Administration – Services."
  2. Open the service to be changed by double-clicking (OPCRouterService, FAS Service).
  3. On the "Log On" tab, select the "This account" option.
  4. You can select the user via the "Browse" button. Important: Under "Paths," select your Windows domain, not the local computer.
  5. Once you have selected the user, confirm with "OK." You are now back in the configuration dialog of your service and can enter the password.
  6. First confirm with "Apply." Windows will now attempt to log the user on to the domain.
  7. If the login fails, change the user from <benutzername>@<domain> to <domain>_<benutzername>_ and try again. No error message means: Login successful.
  8. Confirm with "OK."
  9. Restart the service.
