Finding errors in configuration and project planning
Despite all safeguards, there is always the possibility that a connection will not "work." In rare cases, these are genuine errors, but more often than not, they are minor issues that can arise when connecting third-party systems. We have compiled a list of some pitfalls below—and we are always grateful for any comments or additions.
Hardly any problems occur when the router, OPC server, and database server are running on the same computer. In a distributed system, the correct DCOM configuration is important for the OPC server, while database servers themselves allow or prohibit remote access.
Note: Be sure to use the tests offered in Management: "Test connection" for the DB connection and "Test" for the mail server connection. The OPC connection works if you can browse the OPC servers in Management (see below). Please note that the configuration and service may run in different user contexts and therefore behave differently.
In the basic settings of the router, the log levels "Error" and "Warning" should be activated as recommended. In the event of a runtime error, open the log file via the tray icon and evaluate the error message.
