Renew License

A subscription license is valid for a limited time; with a perpetual license, the entitlement to maintenance and support is limited in duration. When you renew, the same license (same OPC Router ID) is renewed in the license portal. The new license key is automatically added to your account in the license portal and does not need to be entered separately.

warning

When a subscription license expires, the right to use the software ceases: configuration and diagnostic functions are deactivated, but any production processes already running will continue temporarily. Therefore, be sure to renew the license well before it expires.

How the extended runtime is applied to the system depends on the activation method.

Online

With automatic synchronization: Renewals are automatically processed in the background. No manual action is required. You can check the renewed runtime in the license overview.

Without automatic synchronization: The renewal is not applied automatically. Click “Synchronize licenses” under “Activate License in OPC Router”; the extended runtime will then be applied.

Offline

For systems without Internet access, the renewed license must be activated manually. As soon as the license has been renewed in the portal, it is marked in the OPC Router License Portal with an exclamation point indicating that “manual activation is required.”

To apply the renewal, follow the same steps as for the initial activation:

  1. In OPC Router, open the menu item “License”.”
  2. Click “Offline licensing” and repeat the steps from “Activating a License in OPC Router”: Generate a request file, click the “Activate” icon for the license in the license portal, upload the request file, download the generated activation file, and apply it via “Import license file”.

Once imported, the extended runtime takes effect immediately; a restart of the OPC Router service is not required. The new remaining runtime is displayed in the license overview.
